In the last few years, the market has exploded with CBD products, including CBD products to improve your sex life. When we first heard about this, we were intrigued and wanted to know more. How are people using CBD in the bedroom, and does it actually make sex better? We wanted to know what type of CBD products people are using and if they really work, so we did some research. Here's what we found out. There is actually quite a bit of scientific evidence that CBD really can improve your sex life. Once you read the science behind it, we think you’ll agree that CBD has a lot of untapped potential when it comes to uses in the bedroom. Can CBD Improve Your Sex Life?CBD is a natural compound extracted from the cannabis plant that’s used to create CBD oils, tinctures, edibles, and other CBD products. When CBD first hit the market, people used it mainly to manage pain or anxiety. But, as we’ve learned more about the endocannabinoid system, we have discovered so many more things that CBD can do. If you’re a regular CBD oil user, you may not have noticed any major changes in your sex life. We doubt you’ve experienced any dramatic changes in the bedroom department just from using CBD oil, but this is because sex is both a mental and physical activity. One way that CBD can improve your sex life is by relieving mental issues (like anxiety and stress) that might be keeping you from enjoying sex. But it can also help by improving the physical act of sex as well. In the book, Merry Jane’s The CBD Solution for Sex, the author explains all the benefits of using CBD in the bedroom. According to the author, many people believe the purpose of the endocannabinoid system is to help us be happy, horny, and hungry. While this all sounds interesting, does CBD really make sex better? And how? How CBD works There are two major receptors for cannabinoids in our bodies. The CB1 receptor is mainly located in the brain and spinal cord, but can also be found in other places such as your nerves, organs, and tissues. CB1 receptors are highly concentrated in areas of the brain that control your sex drive, including the hypothalamus, amygdala, and hippocampus. CB2 receptors are located in your organs, peripheral tissues, and skin. Remember, your skin is the largest organ in your body. It also contains massive amounts of CB2 receptors. When you use a topical CBD product, CBD is absorbed through the skin and attaches to CB2 receptors below the skin. This is why we believe it works so well when applied topically. CBD Helps with Sex in Two Ways CBD receptors in the brain help with sexual arousal and emotional regulation. You may have heard that your brain is the largest sex organ, and it’s true. In fact, when it comes to sex, your ability to enjoy sex or have an orgasm is primarily controlled by your brain – not your sex organs. Whether you’re a man or a woman, if your brain isn’t “turned on”, the rest of you won’t be either. In a perfect world, sex is always enjoyable, pleasurable, and both partners are satisfied. But, sex can be diminished by mental distractions, anxiety, depression, and stress. Sex should be enjoyable when you’re with your partner and, there should be no pressure. This is all part of what makes the act of sex great. Feeling relaxed and comfortable with your partner, ultimately makes sex better. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes our brains simply get in the way of having enjoyable sex. Have you ever tried to have an orgasm, but found the harder you tried the more difficult it became? This mental roadblock is often the root cause of sexual dysfunction. This is where CBD can help. Taking CBD regularly may improve your mood, energy, anxiety, and sleep. CBD products, taken orally, are absorbed into your bloodstream and connect with the areas of the brain responsible for sexual arousal. When taken regularly, it may improve your sex drive and help you relax more during sex. That’s a big plus. But, CBD can do more than that? Let’s get into the other reasons why CBD helps with sex. CBD May Make Sex More Pleasurable When Used Topically Topical CBD lotions and creams are used to improve circulation, reduce pain, and inflammation in the area where it’s applied. What’s interesting is that when CBD is applied to the genitals it does the same thing. So CBD can do more than help you relax for sexy time, it may also make sex better. To benefit from the topical effects of CBD, many couples are using a CBD-infused lubricant during sex. Can a CBD lubricant improve your sex life? While there really haven’t been any studies to back this up, many couples are trying CBD lubricants in the bedroom and believe that it has enhanced their sex life. For the woman, the vagina is absorbent and lined with mucous. It easily absorbs CBD into the vaginal tissues. This promotes blood flow, reduces inflammation, and can potentially make her orgasms stronger. And for the man, we know that when a man gets aroused, blood rushes into the penis and causes an erection. When there is a problem with this process, it can cause erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction is more common than you might think, affecting as many as 1 in 3 men. While there is not enough research to say if topical CBD can help with erectile dysfunction, we know that CBD helps with blood circulation. And we believe it also helps promote blood flow in the penis. This can potentially help men with erectile dysfunction, by improving blood circulation in the penis. And this increase in blood flow may make sex better for the man as well. Before you decide to spice up your sex life with CBD, there are a few things you should be aware of.
CBD does not work instantly. When CBD is applied to the skin, it takes some time to get absorbed into the tissues. If you plan to use CBD to improve sex, it needs to be applied 30 minutes or more before having sex. Consider using a CBD lubricant as part of foreplay. This way when you have sex the CBD has had time to work. Oil-based CBD lubricants should not be used with condoms Many of the CBD-infused lubricants are oil-based. OIl-based lubricants should never be used with condoms. They can cause the condom to break down. If you plan to use a condom, be sure to only buy a CBD lubricant that is water-based and safe to use with condoms. Don’t use regular CBD oil as a lubricant While there are ways to make your own CBD lubricant, you do not want to just use a regular CBD oil as a lubricant. Many of the CBD tinctures and oils contain flavors or other ingredients that can irritate delicate tissues. They are not intended to be used vaginally. Be sure to use a product that was formulated to be used as a personal lubricant.
