The popularity of cannabidiol (CBD) products has skyrocketed in recent years, as consumers in Michigan and the rest of the country have become more interested in the potential health benefits of this compound derived from the hemp plant. However, with so many different CBD products on the market, it can be challenging to know how to choose a high-quality option.
Fortunately, there are a few key factors to consider when selecting a CBD product that will help you identify the best options available. First and foremost, it's essential to understand where the CBD comes from. Ideally, you want to choose a product that uses CBD sourced from high-quality industrial hemp plants. These plants are specifically bred to contain high levels of CBD and minimal amounts of the psychoactive compound THC, which is responsible for the "high" associated with marijuana use.
To ensure that the CBD in your merchandise comes from industrial hemp plants, you should look for brands that have been third-party tested. This means that an independent lab has analyzed the product to verify its overall purity and CBD content. For example, we proudly feature Blue Lake CBD, which is our proprietary brand of CBD offerings. Our Blue Lake CBD product line includes CBD Tinctures, CBD Gummy Bears, CBD Cream, CBD Bath Bombs, CBD Soap, and even CBD Pet Tinctures. Our Blue Lake CBD brand is high quality, 3rd party lab tested, with accurate potency, and contains no pesticides, heavy metals, lead, or mold.
In addition to checking the source of the CBD, you should also pay attention to the extraction method used to obtain the compound. There are several different methods used to extract CBD from hemp plants, but not all of them are created equal.
One of the most common methods is CO2 extraction, which uses pressurized carbon dioxide to extract the CBD from the plant material. This method is considered to be one of the safest and most efficient options available, as it doesn't involve the use of any harsh chemicals or solvents that could potentially harm the final product.
Other extraction methods include ethanol and olive oil extraction, which can also be effective but may not produce as high-quality results as CO2 extraction. Avoid products that use butane or other potentially harmful solvents to extract CBD, as these can leave behind dangerous residues that could be harmful to your health. Another important factor to consider when selecting a CBD product is the type of CBD it contains. There are three main types of CBD used in products: full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and CBD isolate.
Full-spectrum CBD contains all of the naturally occurring compounds found in the hemp plant, including CBD, THC, and other cannabinoids, as well as terpenes and flavonoids. Broad-spectrum CBD is similar but has had the THC removed, while CBD isolate contains only pure CBD.
While all three types of CBD can be effective, some people prefer full-spectrum or broad-spectrum products because they believe that the combination of different cannabinoids and terpenes can create a synergistic effect that enhances the overall effectiveness of the CBD.
Finally, it's important to pay attention to the other ingredients in your CBD product. While CBD itself is generally considered safe and non-toxic, other ingredients in the product could potentially cause problems.
For example, some CBD products contain high levels of sugar or artificial sweeteners, which could be problematic for people with diabetes or other health conditions. Similarly, products that contain high levels of caffeine or other stimulants could potentially cause unwanted side effects. To avoid these issues, it's important to carefully read the ingredient list of any CBD product you're considering, and to choose products that use high-quality, natural ingredients.
In conclusion, choosing a high-quality CBD product requires a bit of research and attention to detail. Look for products that use CBD sourced from high-quality industrial hemp plants, have been third-party tested to verify their CBD content, and use safe and efficient extraction methods.
Consider the type of CBD used in the product and the other ingredients included, and always read the label carefully to ensure that you're getting a safe and effective product. By taking these factors into account, you can feel confident that you're choosing a high-quality CBD product that will help you achieve your health and wellness goals.

While research is still developing into whether or not CBD can help couples in conceiving, there is a lot of promising evidence.
CBD has been found to be helpful in significantly reducing pain and symptoms for a variety of conditions, like inflammatory disorders, anxiety, chronic pain, skin conditions, depression, and epilepsy. So it only makes sense that researchers wonder whether or not CBD has an impact on fertility.
Here’s what we know so far about using CBD when trying to conceive.
What is CBD?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a chemical found in hemp. It does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana that produces a high. CBD has also not been found to be addictive and has been gaining in popularity as a treatment for numerous health conditions and pain management.
Is CBD safe when trying to conceive?
While the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that both men and women stop using marijuana, which contains THC, before trying to conceive, CBD products, which do not contain THC, are safe for couples who are trying to conceive. It has not been found to have any negative impacts on a person’s health or ability to conceive.
Does CBD help when trying to conceive?
While CBD is not dangerous to take when trying to get pregnant, there is no solid evidence that it actually aids in fertility. That being said, some studies being done are showing promising evidence that it might play a role.
CBD has been found to help with overall health and well-being, which can boost the chances of fertility in couples. By using it as an approach to health as a whole instead of as solely a fertility treatment, CBD might help people become more fertile. CBD may be a natural way to boost fertility with minimal negative side effects.
The answer might lie in the body’s endocannabinoid receptors, which are signaling molecules that help regulate various processes, such as pain, memory, mood, immunity, and stress. These have been found in both sperm and the female reproductive tract and it is thought that they can improve a sperm’s ability to fertilize an egg, and boost ovarian function and follicle maturation.
It is important to note that these findings are not yet conclusive, as there still needs to be more intense research done to determine all the aspects and risks.
How to take CBD for best results
There is no best way to ingest CBD, but the easiest way for many to incorporate it into their diet is through CBD oil. It’s an easy substance to add to your food and drink, but it is also safe to swallow as is. Putting CBD oil under your tongue for approximately 60 seconds will allow most of the CBD to enter your blood stream via your saliva glands. This is the quickest way to get CBD into your endocannabinoid system.
Edibles like gummy bears are popular and a tasty way to get CBD into your system. Edibles take longer to get into your system and you may loose a little of the CBD while it goes through the digestive system before it enters your blood stream.
There are also several topicals that include CBD in their ingredient list, but these may not be as effective in boosting fertility as actually ingesting it would be.
There is no official evidence that CBD can help couples who are trying to conceive do so, but there is a lot of research that has been done, that suggests it can help. Because CBD is known to improve a person's overall health in a variety of different ways, it’s an excellent start, at least, to boosting fertility.

It’s well known that CBD is a successful treatment for a few different serious health conditions, and there are more and more studies coming out all the time as research into the substance grows. Blood pressure issues, which is something that millions of people around the world struggle with, could be the next major frontier for CBD treatments.
Here’s what we know about CBD and blood pressure.
What is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, a major ingredient in hemp plants. Unlike marijuana, CBD doesn't contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient that produces a high. It has been commonly used in recent years as a treatment for health concerns like chronic pain, anxiety, inflammation, and insomnia.
CBD can be ingested in a variety of ways, including oils, capsules, edibles, topical lotions and creams, and smokables.
Has CBD been proven as a treatment for medical conditions?
CBD has not been approved as an official treatment for any medical issues or health conditions. While there is research into how CBD can aid in treatments for cancer, hair loss, asthma, depression, anxiety, and many other conditions, there has not yet been enough research to consider it a treatment option for anything.
What is high blood pressure, and how does it affect the body?
High blood pressure, or HBP, is when the force of your blood pushing against the walls of your blood vessels, is consistently too high. This is an issue because your blood can’t regulate oxygen to the rest of your body, which can lead to serious health crises like kidney disease, kidney failure, heart attacks, heart failure, and strokes. High blood pressure can also cause vision loss and sexual dysfunction.
High blood pressure was a primary or contributing cause of death for 516,955 people in the United States in 2019, according to the CDC.
Symptoms of high blood pressure
There are several different indicators of high blood pressure. These can vary between men and women and some people can experience more severe symptoms than others.
The most common warning signs of high blood pressure are:
Can CBD lower blood pressure?
There is a lot of evidence and more emerging studies that show CBD can help lower blood pressure and prevent these serious health issues.
According to a 2017 study, a single dose of CBD in several healthy male participants lowered blood pressure for those at rest and those who were under stress. Another 2020 study was also promising, with results demonstrating that CBD could reduce blood pressure in patients who were stressed.
While there is additional research to be done to determine how it fully contributes to helping patients with blood pressure issues, experts acknowledge that it does reap very beneficial effects.
So, does CBD help?
CBD is by no means a cure-all for anything, but the research emerging is promising. There is evidence that CBD can help to lower blood pressure, but there needs to be more studies on the substance to understand whether or not it is a viable treatment for high blood pressure and other cardiovascular diseases.
It’s important that you talk to a doctor before continuing with any treatments if you have diagnosed blood pressure issues, and you should seek medical attention immediately if you have any symptoms of having high blood pressure.
At CBD Store of Michigan we carry a wide variety of CBD products including oils, vapes, and edibles. Before you start a CBD regimen it's important that you talk to your doctor. If you're interested in trying CBD, we recommend reading our beginner's guide first. Then shop online or in store to find the best products for you.
Cooking With Cbd OIl
As far as food and diet fads go, CBD oil is one that seems to be turning into a new norm rather than a trend. Cooking with CBD oil offers a load of benefits and it can be used in a variety of ways in the kitchen.
The Benefits of CBD Oil
CBD has been found to have so many health benefits, especially when used as CBD oil. The substance is great for managing chronic pain, it is a great anti-inflammatory, it has been found to have positive effects on digestive and heart health, and even has significant benefits for the skin. CBD has also become a popular method for managing symptoms that come with PMS and menstruation, as well as mental health.
According to a recent survey, the most common uses of CBD by Americans are for pain relief, anxiety, and insomnia.
With all these health benefits and more coming out every day as research dives deeper, it’s no wonder it’s become such a popular kitchen ingredient among Americans.
How to Cook with CBD
There are many questions that might come to mind when you first get into the idea of cooking with CBD oil. It can be intimidating, but truthfully it’s not as complicated as you might think.
Where to get CBD oil
While it is easy to obtain CBD oil, it is important to do your research into the brands and products you’ll be using, as the FDA does not regulate CBD oil. You can purchase quality CBD oil online (or in our store) for cooking with CBD or for general use. All of our products have been third-party lab tested so you know exactly how much CBD is in our CBD products.
How to prep your CBD oil for cooking
If you’re using CBD oil in quick recipes that don’t require heat - such as salad dressing or smoothies - you can simply add the oil into your recipe.
But if you’re plan is to incorporate it into bigger meals and baking, there are ways you should prepare it ahead of time. Some research shows that heat can affect the potency of CBD oil, so you have to be careful and cook it into things on low heat and very slowly. CBD oil starts breaking down between 320 and 356 degrees Fahrenheit, which can cause loss of beneficial cannabinoids and may decrease the efficacy of the CBD.
The most effective and easiest way to use CBD oil in cooking is to add it to common ingredients, like butter and other common cooking oils.
Things to Keep In Mind Before You Cook with CBD Oil
While there are many health benefits to cooking with CBD, there are some things you should keep in mind before you start cooking with CBD oil.
It takes time to see results
Cooking CBD oil into foods will actually slow down the process of digesting it, so it’s important to understand that you won’t see immediate or fast results. Adding it to coffee or a smoothie will actually have a quicker effect than cooking it into more complex meals.
Pair it with healthy fats
Your body absorbs CBD oil better when paired with healthy fats. Make sure to use it with healthy oils like olive oil or grapeseed oil when incorporating it into food.
Easy things to make with CBD oil
You can cook pretty much anything with CBD oil added, but there are some that are recommended over others.
Salad dressing is an easy recipe to add CBD oil to, as it does not require heating it which lowers the possibility of the substance being tampered with. Try this delicious Strawberry Vinegrette Salad Dressing, infused with CBD oil.
Dips and Salsas
Similar to salad dressing, most salsas and dips don’t require heat to make. These are easy recipes to incorporate CBD oil into. One of the easiest to make is this CBD-infused guacamole.
Smoothies and milkshakes
Another great-tasting and easy way to incorporate CBD oil into your diet is through smoothies and milkshakes. Try a CBD-infused chocolate milkshake or this green CBD oil smoothie.
At CBD Store of Michigan, we have a wide selection of CBD oils that can be used for cooking. We also have other CBD products you'll enjoy in your kitchen including CBD coffee, CBD hot sauce, and hemp oil for cooking.
For those worried about hair loss and thinning, CBD is gaining popularity as a way to treat it. While other areas of health still need to be explored in relation to using CBD, there has been a lot of research into how it works for hair thinning.
Here are some things to know about CBD and its applications in the hair care world.
What is CBD?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a natural compound found in hemp. It belongs to a group of substances known as cannabinoids, just like THC. It’s important to understand the difference between CBD and other products of cannabis. CBD, or cannabidiol, is a chemical found in hemp. It does not contain high levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana that produces a high.
Unlike marijuana, you won’t get high off of CBD, but there have been studies that suggest a multitude of health benefits from using it. It is a known antioxidant and neuroprotectant, and is commonly used for stress and anxiety relief, pain and inflammation reduction, and treating sleep deprivation.
CBD is federally legal, but it is not regulated by the FDA as it is sold as a supplement.
Does CBD Help with Hair Loss?
While there aren’t too many studies done on the topic of hair growth yet, there have been some recent studies that show CBD oil helps regrow hair. It’s important to understand, however, that it is not an overnight fix - in fact, nothing is when it comes to treating hair loss or thinning.
A 2021 study showed that people who applied 3 to 4 milligrams of CBD oil to their hair and scalp for 6 months regularly saw successful regrowth. Those who stuck to this regime for the entirety of the 6 months saw increased hair growth by 93.5 percent.
Factors that cause Hair Loss to Consider before Relying on CBD
Just like CBD is not an overnight fix for hair thinning or hair loss, it’s also not one size fits all. Recent studies mentioned above also showed that CBD oil for the treatment of hair regrowth was not as effective in women as it was in men.
It’s also important to fully understand the root cause of your hair loss before turning to CBD oil as a way to treat it. Results of the method may vary depending on the person, cause of hair loss, age, gender, and other variables.
Causes of Hair Loss
There are many different causes of hair loss, and they can differ strongly between different people. Hair loss and hair thinning can be because of genetics, age, lifestyle, or underlying diseases like alopecia. Women often begin to lose hair or experience thinning when they are pregnant or after giving birth due to strong hormonal changes in the body.
Hair loss can also happen because of certain medications. Chemotherapy for cancer treatment is another factor that can cause extreme hair loss. Unfortunately, there aren’t studies on whether or not CBD oil would help to regrow hair in cases like these.
How to use CBD Oil for Hair Loss and Thinning
In that 2021 study, participants applied CBD oil directly to their scalp - this is the only real study that has shown that method of using CBD oil for hair regrowth to be effective. Hair regrowth treatment through CBD has only been tested in the application of CBD oil, so other types of CBD, like gummies, might not be at all effective.
Some suggest that you can add the oil to your current hair care routines, such as mixing it into your shampoos and conditioners. You can also try our CBD Shampoo that has CBD already included in the ingredients.
What Kinds Of CBD Oil Should You Use?
If you’ve decided you’re going to give CBD a whirl to combat your hair thinning or hair loss, its important to understand what makes a quality oil.
When hunting for the right brand or bottle of CBD oil, you should be looking for a product that is full-spectrum - meaning it contains all cannabinoids naturally found in the cannabis plant, including low levels of THC - and third-party tests and made from hemp grown in the U.S.
Like any supplement or treatment, it’s important to consult with experts in the field before you really rely on one treatment path, like CBD oil.
CBD for Weightloss: Does it Work?
One of the biggest reasons people use CBD oil is to help with weight loss. It is marketed in many different products in a variety of forms, but does CBD actually work for those trying to lose weight?
Here’s what we know about CBD for weightloss.
It does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana that produces a high.
Does CBD work for weight loss?
According to Medical News Today, studies being conducted on CBD for weight loss are promising but aren’t entirely conclusive quite yet. There is no direct research that shows that CBD can help you lose weight, but there is evidence that shows it causes symptoms and events in the body that can help those struggling with obesity.
CBD may aid weight loss due to how it affects the body and brain. The endocannaboid system responds to different chemicals in the body through two cannabinoid (CB) receptors, called the CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are most dense in the brain and central nervous system and have been found to be more widespread in people struggling with obesity. Because of this, researchers believe that there may be a link between the activation of the CB1 receptors and obesity.
There are several reasons that CBD is helpful in losing weight, and some evidence suggests it can also help prevent metabolic disorders like diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
Here are some reasons current research has shown CBD works for weight loss.
A 2018 study showed that CB1 receptor antagonists may help reduce appetite and control obesity because CB1 receptor antagonists block off or “deactivate” the receptor. The same study noted that stimulating the CB2 receptors decreases inflammation and reduces food intake, thereby possibly helping reduce obesity.
CBD can help turn fats into good fats
Research has shown that CBD plays multiple roles in how it interacts with fat in the body. Some studies have shown that CBD can help turn white fat (or ‘bad fat”) into brown fat (or “good fat”), which can help the body burn calories. In a 2016 study, researchers found that CBD did help convert white fat cells into brown fat cells, and it even stimulated the body to break down fats more efficiently.
Dr. Clara Lawson, MD from USA Hemp explains that CBD also supports weight loss in a different way by motivating you to exercise since the substance has promising effects on your overall mood. CBD can encourage you to perform better in all parts of your life, including how you approach your weight loss goals.
How to Use CBD for Weightloss
CBD comes in oils, vapes, edibles, capsules, and even topical creams and lotions. There are also a few different types of CBD, including full-spectrum, broad spectrum and CBD isolate. If you are using CBD to help you with weightloss, using an oil is the best way to see all the benefits.
At CBD Store of Michigan, we have a wide selection of CBD oils as well as other CBD supplements. To get started with dosing, read over our Beginnners Guide to CBD or give us a call for a free consultation.
Hemp products are being studied rapidly, and more and more benefits of the substance are being revealed every day. While the full potential of hemp and other related products hasn’t been fully realized, there are already so many health benefits we know about that come with using the product. There is no end to the things hemp can be used for.
What is Hemp?
Hemp, or Cannabis Sativa, is the same species of plant as marijuana. Unlike marijuana, however, it contains lower levels of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, less than 0.3%. While marijuana can produce a “high”, hemp will not get you high. It is also a legal substance to sell under U.S. federal law, while marijuana is not.
Health Benefits of Hemp
There is a multitude of health benefits to using hemp, and there are new studies coming out all the time as research develops. Here are some of the best benefits of using hemp for your health.
1. Heart health
According to WebMD, hemp seeds are particularly rich in healthy fats, including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Healthy fats like these are key nutrients in keeping your heart and cardiovascular system healthy. The seeds are also a great source of magnesium, which helps regulate your heartbeat and has been linked to the prevention of coronary heart disease. Hemp seeds also contain Linoleic acid, which has been found to reduce cholesterol levels by 15% and may act to reduce blood pressure.
2. Digestive health
Everyone knows you need fiber to keep your gut healthy, but did you know that hemp is an excellent source of fiber? Whole hemp seeds are known to be a great source of both soluble and insoluble fiber, which both are very good for your digestive health. Insoluble fiber helps add bulk to your stool and may be linked to a lower risk of bowel cancer, and soluble fiber acts as a prebiotic and feeds good bacteria in your intestines. That being said, it’s also important to drink a lot of water in addition to ingesting hemp seeds and other types of fiber.
3. Anti-Inflammatory Properties
Recent studies have suggested that natural herbs rich in GLA, like hemp, are effective in relieving inflammatory issues such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and multiple sclerosis (MS).
4. Addressing skin conditions
The hemp seed oil has been linked to improving skin health, and even aids in treating severe skin conditions like eczema and atopic dermatitis. There are multiple hemp seed oil products that have been proven to moisturize and soothe inflammation in the skin, as well moderating oil production. Adding CBD to your skincare routine has numerous benefits. It reduces fine lines and wrinkles as well as prevents signs of aging from developing.
5. Managing PMS
Hemp oil is rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a substance that has been known to help in reducing PMS symptoms. GLA reduces the effect of the hormone prolactin on the body, which is often identified as a major cause of the negative symptoms of PMS, especially breast tenderness, irritability, bloating, and depression.
Industrial and commercial uses for hemp
The things hemp can be used for seem to be limitless. While one of the more interesting benefits of hemp is how it can affect human health, it has been used for centuries for uses that are not medicinal. A lot of its industrial uses are not only beneficial to humans in certain fields, it’s also a very important resource to consider in order to reduce environmental detriment.
6. Building materials
Hemp could be the future - as it has certainly been used in the past - of construction. Building construction is responsible for consuming 40% of the world’s global energy and resources. It’s important that the industry move away from using forest materials and mining as the main resources for building, and hemp is a wonderful alternative. Hempcrete is a sustainable way to replace concrete, Hemp fuel will help save this planet. Textiles like clothing or anything made with cotton can be replaced by hemp. Hemp fibers are stronger, more absorbent, more durable, and better insulated than cotton. Hemp needs very little water to grow while cotton requires 4X the water. Hemp produces twice as much fiber per acre. And then there is hemp wood that is durable, beautiful, sustainable and pest resistant.
7. Paper and cardboard
Another detriment to our plant is the number of trees we cut down every year to produce paper and cardboard products. Trees take decades to be replenished as a reliable resource, but hemp is a very sustainable alternative. Hemp paper products can also be recycled at least seven times, while paper made from trees can only be recycled three times.
Just like it can replace how we currently make paper and cardboard, hemp can also replace how we make plastic. Replacing oil-based plastics is essential to saving the planet, and hemp plastic is 100% biodegradable.
As you now understand, hemp is good for you and is sustainable. Next to all of the amazing health benefits listed above, according to Way of Leaf, hemp seeds contain 31% protein and give you over 100% of your RDA for Vitamin B1, Magnesium, Phosphorus, and Manganese, and healthy doses of iron and copper.
10. Food for animals
Just like it is a sustainable and healthy food source for humans, hemp is also a great alternative to current commercial livestock food. In fact, hemp is much more healthy for cows and other common farm animals than corn, which is the main product in most animal feed.
As we learn more about hemp and other related products - like CDB oil and other cannabinoids - the possibilities of how we can use the plant seem to be never-ending. As a sustainable and healthy resource for food and industrial materials, hemp is the future of, well, everything!

CBD and alcohol are two very different substances, with very different effects. With CBD and similar hemp products gaining popularity as both recreational and health supplements, many people wonder whether or not mixing it with drinking alcohol is a good idea.
There are so many reasons for this, but it can be conflicting. Because they are both so different in how they affect humans, questions tend to circulate. To start off, it’s important to note that there are not too many concrete studies done yet about the effect of mixing the two substances, but there are a lot of studies about the effect of CBD and alcohol when taken separately that are pretty conclusive. This helps us understand how they can affect a person when taken together.
Here is all the information you need about mixing CBD and alcohol.
What is CBD? What are the benefits and dangers?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a natural compound found in cannabis hemp. It belongs to a group of substances known as cannabinoids, just like THC.
Being tested in very high dosages – up to 1,500 mg daily - there have been no reports of fatal overdoes or life-threatening side effects from using CBD oils or products. That being said, some mild side effects have shown up when taking higher doses of CBD. These include dry mouth, drowsiness, fatigue, appetite fluctuation, and diarrhea.
It can also have an effect on other medications since CBD may inhibit the body’s ability to metabolize certain drugs. It’s important to discuss CBD use in conjunction with other medications with a doctor before you do so to reduce the risk of negative side effects.
How does it react with alcohol?
As you probably already know, alcohol is the main intoxicant in alcoholic beverages that makes you feel drunk. It is also the most abused substance worldwide - up to 3.3 million people die every year as a result of alcohol abuse around the world. Alcohol significantly alters your state of mind, compromising motor skills, judgment, and decision-making.
When used in moderation, it’s fine to drink socially and in minor increments. However, there are reports that say no amount of alcohol is good for your health, and regular alcohol consumption may lead to addiction, cause malnutrition, nerve damage, liver disease, permanent brain damage, and many more serious health issues.
Can I mix CBD and alcohol?
The short answer is that you shouldn’t. Overall, mixing CBD and alcohol is not a good idea. The benefits of CBD oil are significantly lowered when drinking alcohol at the same time, and the combined effects of both on your system might make you feel less alert and extra relaxed.
Here’s why you really shouldn’t mix the two.
CBD improves the functioning of the endocannabinoid system (ECS), the major regulatory that helps the body maintain the balance between important processes like pain perception, mood, memory, immune function, body temperature, appetite, and more.
CBD helps the ECS to produce more of its endocannabinoids while slowing their breakdown helping the body efficiently return to homeostasis. Alcohol ruins this process because it indirectly damages the endocannabinoid system, which is something that CBD is supposed to prevent.
In short, mixing alcohol and CBD products diminish the health benefits of CBD and may cause a more intense intoxication that puts you in danger of riskier behavior. There is a lot of information on the two separately, but there haven’t been many studies on the effects of mixing CBD and alcohol.
While the world awaits more studies on how the two substances fully impact human health, it’s best to cool it when it comes to mixing them. If you have more questions about the use of CBD or alcohol, it’s important to contact your doctor to discuss whether or not it’s safe for you to use either substance. You can also contact CBD Store of Michigan for expert advise.
Anyone who has experienced PMS and mood swings can vouch for this - they are not fun, and you will probably reach for anything, within reason, to help curb the symptoms.
Many women in recent years have been turning to CBD products to help manage symptoms from PMS, like mood swings. Most users of CBD oil claim that it has significantly decreased their pain from cramps as well, but mostly that it helped them manage mood swings and promote a general feeling of well-being overall.
What is PMS, and what are the symptoms?
Pre-menstrual syndrome, more commonly referred to as PMS, affects approximately 75% of menstrating women, and the symptoms can range anywhere from mild to severe. It’s believed that there can be over 150 varying symptoms of PMS, the most common being things like irritability, anxiety, depression, fatigue and sleep problems, and bloating. These symptoms can last anywhere from 5 to 11 days before or after a period.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a major ingredient in hemp plants. It has, in recent years, started becoming a popular remedy for several different conditions with promising studies coming out all the time.
So what does the science say about PMS and CBD?
While not tested specifically for PMS, it's a promising remedy.
There have not yet been conclusive studies done in regard to CBD's effect on women experiencing PMS and related symptoms, such as mood swings. But, there have been many promising studies that show that CBD does have a positive effect on people with anxiety, depression, and pain from inflammation. All of which are common aspects of PMS.
Dr. Julie Holland, whose background is in psychopharmacology and is the author of The Pot Book, suggests that “CBD can be immensely useful in treating the irritability and discomfort that comes during the premenstrual phase of our cycles. Because it has strong anti-anxiety properties and is also a muscle relaxer, it can help with the overall tension, both physical and psychic, as well as menstrual cramps that can come later.”
So while there have not been studies done specifically on CBD and PMS, the results from other research and studies show promising results in managing related symptoms, especially mood swings. It has also been shown to be a promising remedy for sleep problems, another common symptom of PMS.
How does it work?
The human body has cannabinoid receptors, from the brain and central nervous system to the gut, connective tissues, and nerves. They work with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) to maintain a state of balance in all its cells. In contrast to hemp, CBD promotes a calming feeling that deviates from the effect of a “high.” Researchers have found that taking CBD oil promotes the body’s own internal cannabinoids to function more effectively and helps to reduce stress and inflammation within its own cells, which would be a great aid in anxiety, pain, and mood swings caused by PMS.
Can CBD Help with PMS Symptoms?
Current research has not explicitly focused on PMS, but recent studies on other conditions with similar symptoms suggest that if you’re looking for something natural and effective it is worth trying out. While scientists and researchers conduct more high-quality studies on the relationship between PMS and CBD, it is a safe remedy to try out for managing pain and mood swings. It’s important to do your own research in addition to talking to your doctor about what products are safe for you to use based on your medical history. CBD is not a proven treatment for any illnesses or conditions.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of many compounds in the cannabis plant and has become an increasingly popular substance as a suggested remedy for several different health issues. But perhaps the most interesting and beneficial for humanity is its place in possibly managing the side-effects of some cancer treatments.
While there are no conclusive studies done as to whether or not it is an effective method for actually treating patients’ cancer, studies have shown some benefits to CBD in pairing with other legitimate treatments, mainly chemotherapy and radiation.
The results of CBD as a treatment for many things are promising but we don’t know too much yet. Here’s what professionals do know, and everything you should know about CBD and its benefits as a supplement to cancer treatment.
What is CBD?
It’s important to understand the difference between CBD and other products of cannabis. CBD, or cannabidiol, is a chemical found in hemp. It does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana that produces a high.
CBD can be used with treatment, not as a substitute.
The effects of cancer treatments like chemotherapy are plenty and they can make living with the intense disease that much more difficult. Many cancer patients undergoing chemo experience loss of appetite, severe nausea, fatigue, intense pain, and so many other serious symptoms. CBD oil, however, has been shown in some studies to help manage some of these issues.
CBD is not a treatment for cancer.
The U.S. The Food and Drug Administration has not approved Cannabis as a treatment for cancer or any other medical condition, and there is no evidence that CBD can cure cancer, according to Cancer.gov. It is important to understand that it is not a treatment for cancer, rather a complement to treatments for patients undergoing chemo or radiation. There are a multitude of promising studies being done on the effectiveness of treating cancer with CBD, but there have been no conclusive results as of yet. Until more in-depth and widespread studies have been done, it’s far too soon to say that CBD is a safe and effective treatment for cancer and should not be considered a substitute for other cancer treatments.
While it is not approved for treatment, CBD is approved to help patients manage cancer-treatment-related side effects. Commercially available CBD products like dronabinol and nabilone, are approved drugs for the treatment of cancer-related side effects.
Managing side Effects
Many people experience pain while going through chemo, and it can arise in a lot of different ways. Cancer patients can experience severe headaches, mouth or abdominal pain, and chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), which is nerve damage that can cause tingling, numbness, and other sensations, often in the feet and hands. CIPN affects a lot of cancer patients and can be pretty severe. A 2014 study found that about half of the 90 people who took part in the study had neuropathy, and 6.7% said it was a major symptom that doctors overlooked.
According to the National Cancer Institute, CBD may provide much-needed relief for many of these painful symptoms of cancer treatment, including CIPN, by reducing inflammation in the body caused by chemotherapy.
Helping with nausea.
Most research that has been done on the effect CBD has on nausea and whether or not it helps has been done on cancer patients. Nausea and vomiting are other nasty symptoms of chemo, and CBD could be a way to help manage it. Studies show, however, that THC is really the driving ingredient in helping with queasiness, but a combination of THC and CBD has been shown in human studies to help quell some of it.
CBD itself has very few side effects. Perhaps the greatest benefit to CBD products in addition to cancer treatment is that while it helps curb side effects of chemo or radiation, CBD itself has very few, non-serious side effects. Some users may experience dry mouth, diarrhea, reduced appetite, drowsiness, and fatigue, but otherwise, it is very manageable to use daily.
Regardless of what you research, it’s imperative that you speak with a doctor before taking any additional drugs or medication, including CBD products while undergoing cancer treatment.
Does CBD Help with Dementia?
CBD is used by millions of people for a variety of reasons. As more research comes out on the benefits of CBD, more people are trying it, including seniors and caregivers. In the last few years, there has been some promising research to suggest that CBD may help seniors suffering from dementia. Although it is too early in studies to determine if there is evidence that using CBD oil can prevent, stop or reverse dementia, it may be helpful in treating some of the symptoms of dementia.
In a 2019 study by PubMed, researchers found that using CBD oil improved symptoms of dementia, particularly memory loss and behavior issues. If you care for someone with dementia, you understand that issues with memory loss are frustrating for both the person with dementia and their family. The good news is, CBD may help.
How CBD helps with Dementia
Some of the reasons people use CBD oil are to treat health conditions like chronic pain, poor appetite, insomnia, anxiety, and depression. People living with dementia often have all of these symptoms, along with issues with memory. Thus, CBD may be beneficial for seniors living with dementia for the same reasons it’s helpful for others.
CBD oil, however, may also help specifically with some of the neurological and behavioral issues that occur with dementia.
CBD’s calming effect may help people with dementia
Anyone who has cared for a loved one with dementia knows that living with dementia can be stressful. Due to the way dementia affects the brain, people suffering from dementia may become confused, agitated, or anxious from seemingly normal, everyday occurrences. CBD may calm the brain of dementia patients in the same way it helps with general anxiety.
Although we are still researching its potential treatment for dementia, according to a few studies it may reduce agitation and violent outbursts from dementia patients because of its calming properties.
CBD may improve brain health in people living with dementia
In addition, it may actually improve brain functioning because of its anti-inflammatory properties. We believe the loss of brain cells and the memory loss associated with dementia and Alzheimer's may be a result of inflammation in the brain. Researchers believe CBD oil may help with vascular dementia.
Vascular dementia is a term used to describe any problems with memory and reasoning caused by impaired blood flow in the brain. We believe that inflammation reduces the blood flow in areas of the brain that control memory and other cognitive functions.
CBD has been found to lower the levels of a particular protein linked to brain cell damage and death. Scientists have discovered that people with Alzheimer's have a higher level of this particular protein. This toxic protein causes an immune response in the brain, which results in inflammation and brain cell death. Not only does CBD reduce inflammation, but it may reduce the levels of this protein.
CBD and Brain Function
As the progression of dementia takes place, the brain cells and the loss of brain function that is lost is ultimately lost for good. While this decline can vary, it is often rapid and severe. Although CBD can’t cure dementia or stop the progression, it may have properties that help reduce the amount of brain cell loss.
The primary way that CBD helps is due to its anti-inflammatory properties. However, we are still learning about the endocannabinoid system and how cannabinoids work in the body. With thousands of studies being published on CBD each year, we hope to learn more about how CBD helps with brain health and brain cell preservation. At this point, the research on the effects CBD oil has on dementia is limited. There have only been small-scale studies, so further research is needed.
What we know about CBD
What we do know is that CBD is considered safe and well-tolerated. Its anti-inflammatory properties have been well-researched. Yet, we are still learning how and if these properties can improve the lives of people with dementia.
If you are considering using CBD oil to help someone with dementia, always consult a doctor on the potential benefits and discuss any possible medication conflicts. If you are just starting to use CBD, always start with a low dose and gradually increase the dosage to see if symptoms improve.

In the last few years, the market has exploded with CBD products, including CBD products to improve your sex life. When we first heard about this, we were intrigued and wanted to know more. How are people using CBD in the bedroom, and does it actually make sex better?
We wanted to know what type of CBD products people are using and if they really work, so we did some research. Here's what we found out.
There is actually quite a bit of scientific evidence that CBD really can improve your sex life. Once you read the science behind it, we think you’ll agree that CBD has a lot of untapped potential when it comes to uses in the bedroom.
Can CBD Improve Your Sex Life?
CBD is a natural compound extracted from the cannabis plant that’s used to create CBD oils, tinctures, edibles, and other CBD products. When CBD first hit the market, people used it mainly to manage pain or anxiety. But, as we’ve learned more about the endocannabinoid system, we have discovered so many more things that CBD can do.
If you’re a regular CBD oil user, you may not have noticed any major changes in your sex life. We doubt you’ve experienced any dramatic changes in the bedroom department just from using CBD oil, but this is because sex is both a mental and physical activity.
One way that CBD can improve your sex life is by relieving mental issues (like anxiety and stress) that might be keeping you from enjoying sex. But it can also help by improving the physical act of sex as well.
In the book, Merry Jane’s The CBD Solution for Sex, the author explains all the benefits of using CBD in the bedroom. According to the author, many people believe the purpose of the endocannabinoid system is to help us be happy, horny, and hungry. While this all sounds interesting, does CBD really make sex better? And how?
How CBD works
There are two major receptors for cannabinoids in our bodies. The CB1 receptor is mainly located in the brain and spinal cord, but can also be found in other places such as your nerves, organs, and tissues. CB1 receptors are highly concentrated in areas of the brain that control your sex drive, including the hypothalamus, amygdala, and hippocampus.
CB2 receptors are located in your organs, peripheral tissues, and skin. Remember, your skin is the largest organ in your body. It also contains massive amounts of CB2 receptors. When you use a topical CBD product, CBD is absorbed through the skin and attaches to CB2 receptors below the skin. This is why we believe it works so well when applied topically.
CBD Helps with Sex in Two Ways
CBD receptors in the brain help with sexual arousal and emotional regulation. You may have heard that your brain is the largest sex organ, and it’s true. In fact, when it comes to sex, your ability to enjoy sex or have an orgasm is primarily controlled by your brain – not your sex organs.
Whether you’re a man or a woman, if your brain isn’t “turned on”, the rest of you won’t be either. In a perfect world, sex is always enjoyable, pleasurable, and both partners are satisfied. But, sex can be diminished by mental distractions, anxiety, depression, and stress.
Sex should be enjoyable when you’re with your partner and, there should be no pressure. This is all part of what makes the act of sex great. Feeling relaxed and comfortable with your partner, ultimately makes sex better.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes our brains simply get in the way of having enjoyable sex. Have you ever tried to have an orgasm, but found the harder you tried the more difficult it became? This mental roadblock is often the root cause of sexual dysfunction.
This is where CBD can help. Taking CBD regularly may improve your mood, energy, anxiety, and sleep. CBD products, taken orally, are absorbed into your bloodstream and connect with the areas of the brain responsible for sexual arousal. When taken regularly, it may improve your sex drive and help you relax more during sex.
That’s a big plus. But, CBD can do more than that? Let’s get into the other reasons why CBD helps with sex.
CBD May Make Sex More Pleasurable When Used Topically
Topical CBD lotions and creams are used to improve circulation, reduce pain, and inflammation in the area where it’s applied. What’s interesting is that when CBD is applied to the genitals it does the same thing.
So CBD can do more than help you relax for sexy time, it may also make sex better. To benefit from the topical effects of CBD, many couples are using a CBD-infused lubricant during sex.
Can a CBD lubricant improve your sex life?
While there really haven’t been any studies to back this up, many couples are trying CBD lubricants in the bedroom and believe that it has enhanced their sex life.
For the woman, the vagina is absorbent and lined with mucous. It easily absorbs CBD into the vaginal tissues. This promotes blood flow, reduces inflammation, and can potentially make her orgasms stronger.
And for the man, we know that when a man gets aroused, blood rushes into the penis and causes an erection. When there is a problem with this process, it can cause erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction is more common than you might think, affecting as many as 1 in 3 men.
While there is not enough research to say if topical CBD can help with erectile dysfunction, we know that CBD helps with blood circulation. And we believe it also helps promote blood flow in the penis. This can potentially help men with erectile dysfunction, by improving blood circulation in the penis. And this increase in blood flow may make sex better for the man as well.
Before you decide to spice up your sex life with CBD, there are a few things you should be aware of.
CBD does not work instantly.
When CBD is applied to the skin, it takes some time to get absorbed into the tissues. If you plan to use CBD to improve sex, it needs to be applied 30 minutes or more before having sex. Consider using a CBD lubricant as part of foreplay. This way when you have sex the CBD has had time to work.
Oil-based CBD lubricants should not be used with condoms
Many of the CBD-infused lubricants are oil-based. OIl-based lubricants should never be used with condoms. They can cause the condom to break down. If you plan to use a condom, be sure to only buy a CBD lubricant that is water-based and safe to use with condoms.
Don’t use regular CBD oil as a lubricant
While there are ways to make your own CBD lubricant, you do not want to just use a regular CBD oil as a lubricant. Many of the CBD tinctures and oils contain flavors or other ingredients that can irritate delicate tissues. They are not intended to be used vaginally. Be sure to use a product that was formulated to be used as a personal lubricant.
CBD for Epilepsy and Seizures
Epilepsy – which causes seizures – occurs due to erratic electrical activity in your brain. These uncontrolled movements can be highly disruptive to a person’s day-to-day life and can result in serious physical and emotional distress.
If you have epilepsy or have a loved one who does, you know how devastating the condition can be. If you are considering CBD for epilepsy, there is promising research that suggests it may help.
Cannabidiol (CBD) has received a great deal of attention lately for medical use, including the treatment of epilepsy. In 2018, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a CBD-based treatment called Epidiolex for two rare forms of epilepsy (Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome).
Though Epidiolex is the only FDA-approved CBD treatment, research suggests that CBD may be beneficial for epilepsy and seizures. However, before you try CBD products to manage or treat your seizures, you should talk to your doctor about the potential benefits and risks and also discuss how it might interact with your current medications.
How Does CBD Help Epilepsy and Seizures?
Interestingly enough, it’s not known why or how CBD prevents epilepsy or seizures. What we do know, though, is that our bodies are hosting a vast and complex system of neurotransmitters and receptors called the endocannabinoid system. While research on this system is relatively new and ongoing, it’s believed that this system helps to regulate body functions such as appetite, sleep, pain, and even our immune system.
It is believed that CBD works by attaching itself to receptors in the endocannabinoid system that is responsible for regulating neurological signals in the brain. CBD may improve the connections between neurons, which in turn may reduce the excitability that causes seizures.
Research done on animals has demonstrated CBD’s positive effects on seizures may come from dampening neuronal excitability in the TRPV1 receptors. The same study also found indications that CBD may have anticonvulsive effects on more than just the TRPV1 receptors, though more research is needed.
Epidiolex Research and Availability
Epidiolex is the only FDA-approved CBD treatment for epilepsy, and it’s only available to people over the age of 2 with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. These are both very rare forms of epilepsy, so the availability of Epidiolex is highly limited.
Still, the research on this drug is extremely promising. A study published in 2018 tested patients with various types of epilepsy and found it to be incredibly effective at reducing seizures. Before using the drug, patients were averaging 59.4 seizures per month. After 12 weeks of using CBD, the average participant had just 22.5 seizures per month. The study lasted for 48 weeks, with reductions in seizures persisting for the length of the study.
Further Research on CBD and Epilepsy
The 2018 Farm Bill that was passed by Congress and signed into law legalized hemp farming (with heavy restrictions) and paved the way to greater research on hemp and CBD. As a result, the medical study of CBD has gained considerable speed, though we are still a long way from knowing all of its potential uses and benefits.
Another study found mixed results for CBD treatments. This study, completed in 2020, found that CBD may actually enhance the effects of other antiepileptic drugs. That may be in addition to CBD’s own antiepileptic effects. This is excellent news for anyone with epilepsy.
However, the same study also cautioned that in certain cases CBD has “the potential for seizure aggravation.” The scientists warned that CBD might rightfully be a valid tool in fighting epilepsy, but it’s not a cure for epilepsy and may come with risks.
While there is still not enough research on CBD for epilepsy and seizures, what has been found so far is certainly promising.
CBD, Epilepsy, and Seizures
We've certainly come a long way in a short time. Even the U.S. Congress recognizes the wide-ranging benefits of CBD and hemp. CBD is now available in all 50 states.
Due to the new acceptance of CBD, the medical community is finally getting its hands on this incredible natural substance. As a result, we're learning a great deal about CBD's positive medical effects on our digestion, sleep, pain, and immune systems.
The FDA has even embraced the limited use of CBD to treat two rare forms of epilepsy. This is certainly great news, and we hope this trend continues. With more research, CBD has the potential to be a game-changing natural treatment for millions of people around the world suffering from the debilitating effects of epilepsy and seizures.
Don’t be afraid to discuss CBD oil with your doctor. More doctors are opening their minds to the benefits of CBD. It is generally considered safe and well-tolerated. Numerous studies have found it beneficial, and it may well be the right treatment for you or a loved one.

CBD for Teen Mental Health
In the teenage years, your hormones are all over the place and so is the world around you, especially the last couple of years. This is why adolescence is the time when mental health issues often arise. Until recently, the only option for parents of teens was to send their teen to a therapist or doctor to prescribe medication. Now, many parents are looking for alternative options, such as CBD. Can CBD help your teen with mental health issues?
The number of teens experiencing mental health issues is increasing. In 2019, 1 in 3 teens experienced depression and 1 in 6 made a suicide plan. While the Covid pandemic may be partly to blame, this increase has been steady over the years.
The typical course of action for teen depression is to prescribe medication. But many parents are reluctant to give their teen medications because of side effects and concerns about pharmaceuticals. Plus, getting a teen to take medication is sometimes difficult.
CBD are one natural and safe option parents of teenagers are researching. It has a lot of potential and the risks of side effects from taking CBD are much lower than certain prescription medications. So. the question is, can CBD help your teen with mental health issues? And is it safe for kids to use CBD?
Is CBD safe for kids and teens?
Unfortunately, there is not a ton of data on the safety and efficacy of CBD in children. Although it has a good safety profile and is generally well-tolerated, we just don’t know enough about its use in children. We do know that CBD is nearly impossible to overdose on and that there is no evidence that it could be abused or create dependence.
The AAP has recognized that CBD (and medical marijuana) may be an option for children with life-limiting conditions or severe disabilities, but it has not yet supported its use in general for children. Stating, "There’s never been a study of cannabinoids in any form that has included children. With that in mind, the AAP cannot endorse use of cannabinoid medication with children.” However, they do agree that the research looks promising.
Before you make the decision on giving your child or teenager CBD, it’s best to talk the risks and benefits over with your pediatrician. But, the general consensus is that CBD is safe, we just don’t have research studies to verify its safety in children.
CBD’s Potential Mental Health Benefits for Teenagers
CBD has been used by adults to help with anxiety. We aren’t sure why CBD helps with anxiety, but some research suggests that it may increase serotonin chemicals in your brain, similar to the way certain antidepressant medications affect serotonin.
In one study, researchers in Japan studied 37 teens. The teens were given CBD or a placebo. Researchers noted a significant decrease in anxiety in the teens that were given CBD. They also stated that CBD could be useful for treating anxiety.
The effect CBD has on serotonin may alleviate depression symptoms as well. And, when you combine it with the overall health benefits, it may be an effective natural way to manage your teenager’s depression.
CBD may help with autism
CBD may be beneficial for children with autism. Although there have only been a few studies, some studies suggest that CBD may improve symptoms of autism. Researchers in Israel found that CBD oil significantly improved problematic symptoms and communication in 80% of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
CBD may help with epilepsy
Treatment of children with epilepsy was one of the first talked about use of cannabis in children. Researchers have found that CBD can reduce seizures by half. In one study, the average number of seizures among those who took CBD was cut down from 12 a month to around 6 a month.
CBD may help teens sleep better
Teenagers need 8 to 10 hours of sleep a night, but they rarely get that. With school, homework, extracurricular activities, and sometimes part-time jobs, it’s no wonder teens have problems sleeping. CBD may help teens to sleep better. Researchers believe that CBD helps lower cortisol levels. Higher cortisol levels are associated with stress and insomnia. By reducing cortisol teens may get more sleep and better quality sleep.
What type of CBD is best for teens?
When it comes to the types of CBD there are a wide variety of CBD products available. For teenagers though, the best type is the one that they will take. While CBD oil is often recommended for teens, some parents find CBD gummies are easier to use. However, CBD oil can be added to food or beverages if they don’t like the taste of CBD oil. Or they could even swap their Starbucks habit for some CBD coffee.
When you start using any CBD product, it’s best to start with the lowest recommended dosage. Since most CBD products are dosed for adults, figuring out the best dosage might take some experimenting. However, you should start with the lowest dose possible, and gradually increase the dose.
What is the recommended CBD dosage for kids and teens?
One suggested guideline comes from the Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Parents reportedly used an oral CBD dosage of 0.5 mg/kg/day to 28.6 mg/kg/day to treat their child with epilepsy. As you can see, there is a lot of variation in the dosage. Starting with a low dose of around 7-10 mg would be appropriate for a 40 lb child.
What parents should know about CBD?
It is important that you talk to your teen’s doctor before using CBD. While CBD is considered safe, your doctor may have advice on dosage or provide other recommendations. If your child is taking a prescription medication, you will need to talk to their doctor before making any changes to their medication.
Your teen may be able to wean off of prescription medications or switch to CBD, but this should only be done under the care of a doctor. Suddenly stopping a prescription medication can cause significant issues - like suicidal thoughts, and increased depression and anxiety.
The 3 Main Types of CBD
CBD is everywhere these days, but how much do you know about CBD? Do you know there are three main types of CBD? Most people seem to have general knowledge about CBD. They know it comes from the hemp plant, but most people don’t know there are 3 main types of CBD or what makes each type of CBD different.
The three main types of CBD are full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, and CBD isolate. While they all contain CBD extracted from the hemp (or cannabis plant), some contain other compounds from the cannabis plant. Understanding the differences in each type of CBD will help you select the best type of CBD for your needs.
3 Main Types of CBD
CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of the many active compounds contained in the cannabis plant. However, CBD products contain very little to no THC, the chemical that gives you the “high” feeling. This is also why all of the types of CBD are federally legal. (The government requires all CBD products to contain less than .03% THC.)
The FDA has recognized the potential benefits of CBD, though they still maintain it needs further study. People take CBD for a wide variety of reasons, but the most common are:
Full Spectrum CBD contains all of the compounds from the cannabis plant and also contains a trace amount of THC, somewhere around .3% or less. While THC is present in full-spectrum CBD, it’s important to note that the amount of THC in full-spectrum CBD is so minute that it does not cause any psychotropic effects (or make you feel high).
A full-spectrum CBD also contains terpenes and flavonoids. These latter two compounds are what make it “full” spectrum. Terpenes are what give the plant its fragrance. Flavonoids, as their name suggests, contain flavor elements. Both terpenes and flavonoids have been shown to have therapeutic benefits.
Combining all the cannabinoids and compounds from the cannabis plant creates what is called the “entourage effect.” Basically, this means that the compounds work better when taken together than independently.
Some research suggests that CBD’s therapeutic benefits are strongest when combined with the other cannabis compounds mentioned above. Additionally, other research suggests that the low levels of THC contained in full-spectrum CBD strengthen its pain-relieving effects.
Broad-spectrum CBD contains nearly everything that full-spectrum does, except that it removes the THC entirely. So, you keep the terpenes and flavonoids with broad-spectrum while leaving out the THC. Broad-spectrum CBD gives you many of the same benefits as full-spectrum CBD. However, it may not be as effective for pain relief as full-spectrum CBD.
Nonetheless, you still get the benefits of the “entourage effect,” because broad-spectrum CBD contains most of the compounds found in the cannabis plant. If you prefer to take CBD with no THC in it at all, but still want as much of the therapeutic benefits of cannabis as possible, broad-spectrum CBD may be the option for you.
CBD isolate is pure CBD –without any of the other compounds. With CBD isolate, not only will you avoid THC altogether, but isolate doesn’t contain terpenes or flavonoids either. While you may miss out on some of the benefits you get from a broad-spectrum or full-spectrum CBD, one advantage of isolate is that you can take higher doses of CBD in isolate form.
It is also great for making your own CBD lotions, creams, or soap. CBD isolate still provides the same anti-inflammatory properties and other benefits, it just strips away the other compounds. CBD isolate is often the preferred CBD product for pets, as it may be better tolerated by animals.
Which TYpe of CBD is right for you?
Which type of CBD you prefer is honestly up to you. Many people believe that full-spectrum CBD is the best type of CBD because it contains all of the compounds from the hemp plant. While others prefer CBD with zero THC in it.
If you are concerned about THC, you can always start with a broad-spectrum CBD. However, if you find you are not seeing the benefits you had hoped for, you may want to switch to a more complete form of CBD and try a full-spectrum CBD product.
Whichever type of CBD you choose, always start with the lowest recommended dose. If you don’t notice improvement, gradually increase your dosage. Figuring out which type of CBD works best for you may require a little bit of experimenting.

With so many different types of CBD products out there, CBD gummies seem to be everyone’s favorite. If you like gummies, you’ll love Blue Lake CBD Gummies. These yummy gummy bears are infused with a proprietary blend of full-spectrum CBD and taste delicious.
There are a few reasons why people love Blue Lake CBD gummies. They taste great, they’re convenient, and eating a Blue Lake CBD gummy doesn’t feel like taking a supplement at all.
Here’s why we think Blue Lake CBD gummies are the best way to add CBD into your life.
Blue Lake CBD Gummies Just Taste Better
If you don’t enjoy the taste of CBD oil, gummies are an excellent option for you. We think you’ll agree that Blue Lake CBD gummies taste better than other CBD gummies. They’re made with natural ingredients and taste delicious. Each jar contains 40 gummies or 1,000 mg of CBD.
Since both CBD oil and CBD gummies provide the same benefits, why not choose the tastier option? When you walk down the vitamin aisle in your local grocery or drug store, you see all kinds of gummy options, and we’re not just talking about those Flintstone vitamins for kids (though let’s be honest, we all liked those too). Virtually every kind of vitamin and supplement offered these days has a gummy option because people love gummies!
Blue Lake CBD Gummies are Full Spectrum
Blue Lake CBD gummies are infused with full-spectrum CBD. This means that you get all the benefits from the hemp plant. Each gummy contains 25 mg of full-spectrum CBD, so a little goes a long way. Full-spectrum CBD gummies contain other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids in addition to CBD. Experts think that the additional components may provide even more health benefits than CBD by itself.
Blue Lake CBD Gummies are Easy to Take and Take With You
With CBD gummies, there’s no fuss. You just open the bottle, pop the desired amount of gummies into your mouth, enjoy the taste, and you’re done. But with oil, you have to carefully measure out the correct amount of drops, almost as if you’re back in chem class.
If you’re in a public place, it’s a hassle to pull out a tincture and start dropping oil into your mouth. And you better make sure you close the oil tightly because if it leaks onto your things, it’s going to create a mess. Plus, there goes your bottle of CBD oil.
CBD gummies are going to be far more accurate than an oil dripper. You have to carefully measure out the drops from the dripper. If you’re on the move, you may not have the time to do this, or if you’re just not careful enough, you can easily overdo it with the drops. While you won’t “overdose” on CBD, if you take too much, you may feel drowsiness and lethargy, or get a stomach ache if you take too much.
You’ll get the exact same amount of high-quality CBD with every single gummy. And, if you do want to up your dose, it’s as simple as taking one more gummy, rather than guessing how many drops to take.
Blue Lake CBD Products Are Third Party Lab Tested
With so many CBD products on the market, it’s hard to know which ones are best. Third-party lab testing is the best way to ensure you’re getting a quality, consistent product every time. Third-party lab testing is crucial for any CBD product you buy because this will ensure the CBD listed on the package is actually in the product and that it doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients like pesticides or molds.
All Blue Lake CBD products are high-quality, lab-tested, and free from pesticides, heavy metals, lead, or molds. Lab-testing also ensures that all of our gummy bears contain the exact amount of CBD as listed on the label.
Blue Lake CBD Gummies Makes Taking CBD Easy
CBD is a natural way to take care of issues like pain, anxiety, and insomnia. CBD gummies make it easy to take CBD. Blue Lake gummies are great for those who want a convenient way to consume CBD. They taste great, they provide easy and accurate dosing, and we think they will become your favorite way to take CBD too.
Can CBD Help You Quit Smoking?
Have you tried everything to quit smoking? If you’re wondering if CBD can help you quit smoking, there is a lot of interesting research that suggests that it can.
CBD gives you a different way to curb your addiction, all without having to use any kind of tobacco substitution. Plus, it’s affordable, available in all 50 states, and you don’t even need a prescription.
According to the CDC, an estimated 14% of Americans over the age of 18 – which equates to 34.3 million people – are smoking cigarettes, while another 8 million are using smokeless tobacco. And at this point, we’ve all heard how bad it is for you, so just saying that out loud doesn’t make it any easier to quit. But if you haven’t tried using CBD to quit smoking, then you haven’t tried everything.
You’ve tried going cold turkey, chewing the gum, using patches, and you’ve read about the benefits of Chantix. With all the information out there on how to quit, as the stats from the CDC shows, a lot of us are still smoking.
Many of the solutions listed above, including the nicotine gum, patches, and, of course, Chantix, are Big Pharma solutions meant to curb nicotine intake. A lot of these “solutions” have been around for decades, and unfortunately, their results are quite mixed. Many of these cigarette replacements still involve giving your body nicotine. While nicotine isn’t the primary cause of tobacco-related health issues, it is still an addictive chemical that can cause withdrawal symptoms.
Withdrawal symptoms are wide-ranging and run the gamut from physical to psychological. If you’ve been smoking for years, you’ve likely tried to quit more than once and know all about the withdrawal symptoms. From headaches and nausea to insomnia and even depression, quitting smoking is not easy.
While CBD is not a cure-all, there have been studies done that show CBD may ease your withdrawal symptoms and reduce your urge to smoke.
CBD May Calm Nicotine Withdrawal Symptoms
One way that CBD can help you with your withdrawal symptoms is by easing your anxiety. Anxiety can be devastating for our mental and physical health, and it’s an unfortunately common withdrawal symptom felt by many people. Luckily, a good deal of research done on CBD has pointed to its ability to treat anxiety. In fact, CBD has been found to treat general anxiety, anxiety in children, and anxiety related to PTSD.
What’s more is that another study has found CBD oil can treat another withdrawal symptom: vomiting and nausea. That’s because CBD helps regulate your body’s endocannabinoid system, which is part of what controls nausea and vomiting in humans. While the study is only preliminary, the authors - a group of psychological and neural researchers at a University in Canada - suggested CBD may even be strong enough to help chemo patients overcome their sick feelings.
The more CBD comes under scientific study, the more we’re finding out its positive effects on our body’s regulation. Consequently, we’re finding out that CBD may be an effective anti-smoking remedy.
CBD May Help You to go Smoke Less
But it’s not just withdrawal symptom regulation that CBD can help with. CBD may significantly reduce your urge to smoke. This time, the study comes from the experts at the Clinical Psychopharmacology Unit at the University College of London. Their study gave smokers a CBD inhaler, while another group was given a placebo. Both groups were told to use the inhaler when they felt the urge to smoke.
The result? The group using the CBD-infused inhaler smoked an incredible 40% fewer cigarettes over the course of the study. The researchers concluded that their study, along with the rationale for using CBD as an anti-smoking supplement in the first place, “warrants further exploration.” We wholeheartedly agree!
Another Interesting Study About CBD and Tobacco
An interesting and somewhat related study to the one above was done in 2018 by a range of researchers in England. They found that, when given CBD orally, participants paid much less attention to tobacco and cigarette-related pictures than those who were given a placebo. Further, those with the CBD rated tobacco-related pictures as less pleasant than those who took the placebo.
This study, combined with the one above, points to an interesting phenomenon where CBD may leave us simply less interested in tobacco and cigarettes overall. That’s awfully helpful if you’re trying to lay off smoking.
So, Can CBD Help You Quit Smoking?
A lot of the early evidence points to CBD being a potential quit-smoking aid. In particular, CBD seems to help with quitting smoking in two important ways. First, it helps alleviate some of the horrible withdrawal symptoms you experience when you quit smoking. And then, it may help decrease your urge to smoke in the first place.

CBD and Melatonin for Better Sleep
You’ve heard about melatonin and might also know that CBD may help with sleep. But, what about taking CBD and melatonin together? Is it safe to mix the two? Do the two supplements work well together, or should you choose one or the other? The research on CBD and melatonin is interesting. If you are looking for a better night’s sleep, you might be curious about how the two work together to help you sleep better.
CBD is known to relax the body and produce a calming effect. This is why some people like to take it at night before bed. Then there’s the other common night-time supplement: melatonin. While the effects of CBD – namely, calming and relaxation – can ultimately induce sleep, melatonin works by directly signaling your body that it’s time for bed.
Is it safe to take CBD and Melatonin together?
A question many people have is if it is okay to take the two supplements together. The answer is not only a resounding “yes,” but the two actually seem to work extremely well together in tandem. You see, this is because melatonin and CBD are both good for sleep but in slightly different ways.
A relatively recent study has shown that CBD can help reduce sleep latency This is basically a fancy way of saying that CBD helps to reduce the amount of time it takes to go from full wakefulness to sleep. While CBD has only recently begun to get studied by scientists, the early data are showing promising results for the cannabinoid as it relates to sleep.
Similarly, separate studies have found that melatonin not only helps induce sleep but has also shown that melatonin increases the quality of your sleep as well. This is because melatonin, which scientists have widely studied for decades, is actually a hormone that your body naturally produces in the brain’s pineal gland. Melatonin plays a crucial role in your body’s circadian rhythm, and if you’re lacking the hormone, you’ll also be lacking in sleep.
If you decide to take these two supplements together, you should be able to fall asleep faster, and you’re likely to have a better night’s sleep. Now, if you’re reading this and thinking, “I’m not an insomniac, so this must not be for me,” you should keep on reading. That’s because a 2016 study done by the CDC found that a whopping 1 in 3 adults doesn’t get enough sleep at night. And if you’re not sleeping at least a full, relatively uninterrupted 7 hours at night, the same study showed that you’re at much higher risk of obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and frequent mental distress.
Benefits of taking CBD with Melatonin
So, taking these two supplements at night may not only get you to bed faster and help you sleep through the night, but as a byproduct, they’ll also help your body weight, heart, and mental health.
There is not a great deal of medical research out there on the effects of using CBD and melatonin together. The early results of CBD studies are definitely trending in a positive direction, and melatonin is a long-proven sleep aid, but there is just not much out there about using the two together. For that reason, you may still find it helpful to consult with your physician before taking the two supplements at the same time.
Nevertheless, we are really hopeful about melatonin and CBD. There is little indication that either one has negative side effects, and all of the evidence we’ve seen suggests that they complement each other very nicely. And one big plus side is that, unlike with benzodiazepines and other sleep medications, melatonin and CBD do not give you any kind of hangover, withdrawal symptoms, or other serious side effects.
Natural, plant-based supplements are a healthy and cost-effective alternative to lab-made medications. For better sleep, experts also recommend lowering or eliminating your caffeine consumption, reducing your exposure to bright lights such as a TV, computers, or tablets, and trying to set a consistent sleep schedule.
If you find yourself doing all of these things (or even if you’re not) yet, you’re still having trouble falling asleep, we strongly suggest trying our CBD oil. Most people find CBD help them rest, relax, and fall asleep.
If you start your morning with coffee, but still find you lose focus throughout the day, you’re not alone. Sixty-two percent of Americans drink coffee every day. Thirty-three percent drink energy drinks regularly. And, 25 percent of Americans over age 50 take a dietary supplement to improve their brain health. If you’re one of the millions of Americans that use coffee, energy drinks, and supplements to boost your energy, you might be interested in learning more about CBD for energy and focus.
We know that CBD plays a role in sleep, appetite and mood, but can it also help with energy and focus? As we learn more about the potential benefits of CBD oil, research into its uses has exploded. However, most of the studies have focused on CBD for pain, anxiety, and sleep. There has not been a lot of research on CBD oil for energy and focus.

How CBD improves energy and focus
CBD oil has a variety of uses. Although it’s primarily used for pain and anxiety, researchers are learning more about how the endocannabinoid system works and how it might help with energy. Some researchers believe it can provide a natural boost in energy and alertness when taken in low dosages.
What people like about CBD is that it makes you feel energized in a different way than coffee or stimulants. It doesn’t create the same side effects as fueling up on caffeine. You don’t feel jittery and it doesn’t create the withdrawal symptoms that you get from caffeine. Instead it works naturally with the parts of your brain responsible for regulating alertness.
Although we don’t have a huge amount of research on CBD oil’s effect on energy and focus, we do know a few things about how it helps. A study published in the journal Current Neuropharmacology suggests that CBD oil has promising properties that may improve wakefulness and focus. Another study in rats found that CBD improves alertness by activating neurons in the hypothalamus and DRD (dorsal raphe nucleus). Both areas of the brain are involved in regulating serotonin and dopamine. The study found that CBD administered to rats increased their dopamine levels and increased alertness.
But wait, I thought CBD helped with sleep
If you’re confused about how CBD can help with sleep and wakefulness, it’s because CBD has different effects depending on the dosage. Research suggests that lower doses may improve alertness, while higher doses may be sedating. With this in mind, if you are considering using CBD oil to improve your focus, it’s best to use a low dosage. A 2014 study found that a dosage of around 15mg increased wakefulness.
CBD may help improve your wake sleep cycles naturally
It’s interesting to see that CBD can help with both wakefulness and sleep. In order to see the full benefit of CBD, it’s helpful to understand how it helps with sleep. Getting quality sleep is necessary to feel more alert. Sleep is when your brain and body restores itself and heals. You can’t skip out on good sleep and expect to feel focused. Adding CBD oil to your morning routine may help with focus, but getting a quality night’s sleep will help you wake up more refreshed.
CBD in general doesn’t have a sedating effect. However, we believe it helps with sleep because of its effect on cortisol levels. Cortisol is a stress hormone that is typically at its highest in the morning. People that struggle with sleep often have higher levels of cortisol and this may be why they have problems sleeping. Scientists have found that CBD can significantly decrease cortisol levels when taken at higher doses, around 300-600 mg. By lowering cortisol levels, it’s easier to fall asleep.
Another less talked about cannabinoid, CBN, may help with sleep even more, especially when taken with CBD. CBN, is a minor cannabinoid that is believed to have a sedating effect. When taken in the evening, it may help you to get a better night’s sleep.
When taken at the right doses, CBD may be beneficial for focus and sleep
If you are interested in using CBD oil to improve your focus, consider adding CBD oil to your morning and evening routine. At the right dosage, CBD oil may help you to improve your sleep wake cycles and make you feel more energized and focused.
If you have used CBD oil, you might be interested in its sister CBN oil. If you’ve never heard of CBN or cannabinol, it is a minor compound found in hemp and marijuana plants. CBD and THC are the most talked about cannabinoids found in cannabis, but there are actually many lesser-known cannabinoids found in hemp. These include CBDa (cannabigerolic acid) CBDa (cannabidiolic acid}, CBDV (cannabidivarin), CBG (cannabigerol), CBC (cannabichromene). and CBN (cannabinol).
What is CBN (Cannabinol)?
CBN (or cannabinol) is one of the more interesting cannabinoids found in cannabis plants. We've known about CBN for quite some time, but we are just now learning how CBN works and what it does. CBN has not been studied as much as CBD and THC. This is mainly because CBD and THC are the two primary compounds found in cannabis. CBN is a minor cannabinoid that is not naturally produced in large amounts. This makes it harder to extract and more difficult to study.
However, we do know a few things about CBN. When CBN was first discovered, researchers thought CBN was the component of marijuana that makes you feel high. As we studied cannabis more, we identified THC as the psychoactive compound in cannabis. CBN is actually a byproduct created when THC breaks down. This happens naturally as hemp ages and is exposed to light and heat.
